Walnut & Bridle Leather Bar Stools

Walnut & Bridle Leather Bar Stools

Walnut & Bridle Leather Bar Stools

Walnut & Bridle leather bar stools are custom made in solid American Walnut.  The bar stool seat and backrest are woven with 2.25″ wide x 3/16″ thick bridle leather from one of the finest Tanneries in the United States. The leather strips are ripped by hand from a whole finished cowhide then cut to the required lengths for the weaving. The edges of the strips are burnished and dyed before they are soaked in warm water bath, then they a woven tightly onto the polished Walnut bar stool frame. The leather strips are fixed with small screws and allowed to dry and achieve a wonderful tension when the process is complete.  The bar stools frames are finely crafted from hand selected American Walnut planks that are chosen for their color and grain. The joinery on the rails and stretchers are mortise and tenon with exposed Walnut grain plugs used as a decorative element. The front legs are sculptural in form with a sweeping curve on two sides, the back legs flare gracefully at the bottom.  The stools have a seat height of 24″ and are designed for a 36″ counter height. Seat depth is 13″. Width 17″. The height of the back is 36 1/2″. Custom sizes are available.

Wright Oak Dining Table

Wright Oak Dining Table

Wright Oak Dining Table

The Wright Oak Dining Table with breadboard style top was inspired by 20th Century American Architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The table was designed for the dining room in a new house in the style of Frank Lloyd Wright. The craftsmen style top and spindle base draws inspiration from Wright’s early 20c. designs. Maybe best described as his Oak Park style.  The angular 15/30 degree butterfly ends with thru tenon compound miter joints relate to Wright’s later more angular Usonia style Architecture and furniture designs.   Dimensions 90″ Length x 42″Width x 29″Height.

Inverted Walnut Pedestal Desk

Inverted Walnut Pedestal Desk

Inverted Walnut pedestal desk is handmade from American Walnut solids and veneers. This unique desk features reverse graduated drawers in each pedestal and a single pencil in the center.  The drawers feature beautiful Stainless Steel drawer pulls.Inverted Pedestal Desk When I design a desk for a client I like to build a custom safe drawer in the center of the left or right pedestal.  The concept for the drawer is based on one  German Cabinetmaker David Roentgen’s desk for Catherine the Great in the late 1780’s. The amazing desk Roentgen designed is illustrated in the photo on the bottom right.  You pull the drawer out half way and there is a small keyhole that unlocks the drawer and it splits in half to expose the internal rear compartment.  The size of the desk is 54″x 25″ x 30″ H.    Please click on images to enlarge.
