Chad Womack

Chad Womack PhotoFurniture designed and created to exacting standards for private clients, architects and interior designers.

My interest in in woodworking began when I was very young, my grandfather Charles Hayward in his 80’s built copies of French bergere and American Empire chairs in his small workshop in Detroit Michigan . From this early inspiration, I received my BFA in Furniture Design from Northern Michigan University under professor William C. Leete and studied Furniture Design at the Kendall School of Design. I became VP of Design & Product Development at the prestigious John Widdicomb Furniture Co. in Grand Rapids MI. I later went on to become Director of Design at Arthur Brett & Sons in Norwich /London England.

During my career I have drawn from historical  sources such as  English, French, Russian, German, Italian, Swedish, Spanish, Indian, Chinese and sometimes American furniture. I treasure my extensive library of rare historical books on furniture design and decoration that I have collected during my years of research and travel. I have been very fortunate to have worked closely on furniture collections with two of the finest interior designers working today, Mario Buatta and Jacques Grange.  My inspiration is drawn from my extensive historical research, current stylistic trends, and my favorite designers from: 18c Cabinetmaker Pierre Langlois,  18c Architect James Wyatt, 20c Designer Ernest Boiceau, and 20c Architect Emilio Terry.  This collection of unique original designs have been created in my workshop located in Traverse City, Michigan.
